Chevy Equinox Dog Seat Cover: Plan Trips with Travel Buddy

Some trips are predictable: a quick drive to a trail, a visit with friends, or the ride home after a rainy walk. The mess isn’t always predictable. Putting a cover in place before your dog gets in can make it easier to manage what comes back with you, especially when the Equinox also carries people during the week.

Travel Buddy is our featured cover for these outings. Before ordering, review its current product details alongside your vehicle’s rear-seat layout. A seat cover helps protect the seating area; it does not, by itself, make a vehicle pet-safe or keep a dog secure in a sudden stop. That distinction matters when you’re deciding what belongs in your travel setup.

It also helps to think about the whole ride, not just the destination. If your dog tends to track in dirt after a walk, keep a towel handy for paws before getting into the vehicle. If passengers are coming along, decide where everyone will sit before placing the cover. A few minutes spent on that routine can make everyday departures feel less rushed.

Measure the usable rear-seat area in your Equinox and compare it with Travel Buddy’s bottom-panel dimensions. Consider your model year and seat configuration, especially if a child seat or rear passenger shares the row.

Position the cover while the vehicle is parked. Keep needed seat belts, buckles, child-seat equipment, and passenger seating accessible. Give your dog room to rest without crowding anyone. If the cover shifts or interferes with equipment during a short test drive, adjust the setup before taking a longer trip.

Keep a towel ready for muddy paws, along with water, a bowl, and waste bags for longer trips. Store supplies where you can reach them when stopped. If you want to keep extra towels together, our Hexy car trunk organizer is an optional companion.

Before setting off, make sure loose supplies cannot roll into the seating area. A seat cover and a travel restraint serve different purposes, so choose how to secure your dog independently of how you protect the upholstery.

A ready back seat is only one part of leaving with your dog. For longer outings, bring water and a bowl, waste bags, and a familiar comfort item. Keep essentials where you can reach them at a stop rather than digging through the cargo area while your dog waits. If you carry extra towels or travel supplies, our Hexy car trunk organizer is an optional way to keep those items together.

Plan separately for restraint. A cover protects a seating area; it does not replace an appropriate way to secure your dog during travel. The American Veterinary Medical Association’s pet travel FAQ offers broader guidance for preparing to travel with a pet. Consider your dog’s needs and any equipment you use together, while keeping the vehicle’s belts and other passenger equipment available for their intended use.

On a longer drive, build stops into your plan so you can offer water and attend to your dog’s needs. Check that supplies haven’t rolled into the seating area before you get back on the road. The goal is a repeatable routine: cover in place, people and dog accounted for, and the items you’ll need during the trip easy to find.

When you get home, remove loose dirt and fur promptly so it doesn’t linger in the vehicle between trips. Before cleaning Travel Buddy, follow its published care directions rather than assuming a particular washing method. Give the rest of your travel gear a quick look, too: refill the water you used, replace waste bags, and set aside any muddy towels.

That small reset makes the next park visit or weekend drive easier to start. When you’re ready to set up your Equinox, review Travel Buddy’s current fit details, care information, and price before ordering so you can choose it with your own vehicle and routine in mind.

The Tailgate Ramp works alongside the seat cover and supports dog and chevy as a dedicated ramp.
