We have a golden retriever puppy that is now 15 weeks old -- our second golden puppy. He's awesome in every way, but if you've ever had a wet golden puppy that you try to dry off with a towel, you know that it's like herding cats...he's constantly trying to bite at the edges of the towel to start a tug game. It's easier to win the lottery than it is to dry him off with an actual towel!
This come in REALLY handy for that (no pun intended!). They're great...really nearly perfect. Our pup came in from the rain and I used these instead of a towel to try to dry him off...it was SO easy. He did not grab at them at all...nothing. He let me do my thing until he was mostly dry. And they are pretty absorbent too, better than a standard cotton towel. he had a good bit of rain on him (it was coming down pretty hard), and these sopped up most of the water. And they work particularly great on his legs -- having them in the glove format makes it so much easier.
They seem really well made too. They are strong and the stitching is great. I am pretty confident these are going to last through a lot of rainstorms, baths, and laundering for years to come.
While they may seem a little expensive at this price I think they're REALLY well worth the price. The convenience alone makes it worth it to me, but add in the quality and it's a pretty good deal overall.
With 2 goldens, bath time is always a challenge, especially in drying the dogs off. The big guy, pictured, usually takes 3 towels and a number of shakes to get dry enough to put in the house. I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get him as dry as we normally get him with the gloves and a single towel (and a number of shakes). Of course, back in the house he had to finish himself off by rubbing on the furniture and rolling on the carpet, but that's normal.
The mitts picked up a lot of fur (also expected), what I didn't expect was how easy it was to brush off the fur with just my hands. Took about 10 seconds/mitt. The dog loved the massage action during the bath too!
The mitten style design is SO much better than a flat towel! I can dry between his toes, inside his ears and all the spots that usually stay damp. Highly recommend
These turned out to be incredibly handy for quick cleanup after wet, muddy walks. I dampened one of the mitts and used it to wipe the mud from my dog’s paws, and it worked perfectly. The soft microfiber gives you much more control than trying to maneuver a regular towel around individual paws and toes, and it picked up the mess very well.
The material is plush and substantial without making the mitts feel cumbersome. I normally wear a women’s medium glove and had plenty of room inside, so I think these should accommodate considerably larger hands as well.
The extended cuffs are a nice feature, especially when dealing with a wet dog. There is also an elastic fabric loop sewn onto each cuff, which I believe is intended to help keep the longer portion from slouching or getting in the way. The stitching and finishing on mine look good and the mitts feel like they should hold up well to repeated washing.
While these are marketed for bathing and grooming, I suspect mine will get the most use by the door for muddy paws and quick cleanups. They’re much easier than grabbing a full-size towel every time my dog comes inside dirty. Very practical pet item and highly recommend.
These have been most useful after grooming and quick rinse offs, not just full baths. A small dog can be dried down pretty fast, and the mitts make it feel less clinical than towel drying on a grooming table. The seamless feel matters because nothing seems to snag on curly patches or sensitive skin. They also work for wiping the dog before getting into the car after a wet hike. The absorbency is impressive for the size, though hanging them somewhere with airflow is important so they are ready again later. The no lint part is a big plus on darker coats. This is one of those pet accessories that seems extra until it becomes part of the routine.
Two mitts replaced the trunk full of wet towels after our lake day adventure! 👍
I really wanted to love these drying mitts because I watched the videos showing people drying large, soaking-wet dogs after baths, swimming, or being out in the rain. Based on that, I expected them to be extremely absorbent. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. I tested them after bathing my 11-pound Chihuahua, who has regular short dog hair, and while they removed some water, they still left him pretty damp. I even squeeze some of the excess water from his coat before taking him out of the tub, so I expected the mitts to absorb considerably more than they did. Surprisingly, the mitts themselves didn’t even feel very saturated afterward. I had to dry him with a regular cotton towel. Where I DO think these work well is for smaller jobs. If your dog comes inside with wet paws from the rain, these are great. They dried his paws quickly and would be handy to keep near the door for rainy or muddy days. The mitts are also very long and come almost to my elbows. That may be useful for someone drying a much larger dog, but for my little guy, I didn’t really understand the need for all that extra length since I’m drying him with my hands, not my forearms. They’re soft, comfortable to use, and perfectly fine for paws and light moisture. I just didn’t find them nearly as absorbent as I expected for drying a dog after a full bath. For that purpose, I’ll stick with a regular absorbent towel.
soft and surprisingly absorbent:)
