I noticed the biggest difference after a long day at the dog park when my dog jumped into the back covered in mud and wet grass. Normally I'd be stressing the whole drive home about the mess, but this time I just let him settle in and relax.
I also like that I can still fold part of the seats down when I need extra room for bags or luggage. When everything's done, I just roll it up or toss it in the wash if it got messy.

Which MudLock size do I need?
Use the fit check above and select your vehicle. As a rule, L is 79 by 52 inches for mid-size SUVs such as the 4Runner, Explorer, Forester and Highlander, and XL is 102 by 61 inches for full-size SUVs and minivans such as the Tahoe, Yukon, Odyssey and Navigator. If your car is not listed, measure your cargo floor front to back and side to side.
What is the difference between the three ready pairings?
Only the cover inside. The original Travel Buddy has six waterproof layers and solid side walls, on a soft bottom. The Mk. II adds the reinforced hard floor. The Light is the breathable beige version, also soft-bottomed. All three come with the same Nuzzle mitts.
What changed in Mk. III compared with Mk. II?
The side panels now attach directly to the car doors, so you no longer unzip the cover every time the dog gets in or out. The mesh window is larger. The reinforced hard bottom carries over, rated to 450 lbs.
Can I still fold the rear seats down?
Yes. Several owners describe folding one half of a split seat for bags, groceries or a cooler while the dog rides on the other side, without taking the liner out.
Does the liner move around when the dog does?
Buyers report it staying in place while the dog shifts during a drive. It also rolls up and clips away when you want the plain trunk back.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the quilted face down after a muddy trip. Owners also roll the liner up and put it in the wash when it needs more than a wipe.
Will the mitts work on a large dog?
They are sized for a hand rather than a dog, so size is not the limit. The 400 g/m2 microfiber holds seven to eight times its weight, and the 15.7 inch cuff covers your forearm while you work down the legs.
